BargeOps continues to add and enhance features based on the input of our customers. In addition to the major improvements to demurrage in BargeOps 4.1, we’ve highlighted a few other features for you including
- Barge Cleaning Rates per Commodity
- Improved Support for Vendor Service Providers
- BargeOps Portal Improvements
- Shift Planning and Shift Rate improvements
- Invoice Adjustments
Read on for more details on each of these.
Barge Cleaning Rates per Commodity
Keeping track of cleaning records for barges and accurately billing customers is important for inland marine companies. BargeOps now offers new and expanded capability related to barge cleaning rates. Previously, BargeOps supported different rates for cleaning based only on the type of cleaning. Now you can set up different rates based on commodities to reflect the differences in cleaning and the rates charged to customers. There is also a new Cleaning Report that shows the barges cleaned during a specific period of time.
Support for Vendor Service Providers
If you are counting on vendor-operated fleets to provide services for your barges, BargeOps can help you by keeping track of the billable services provided. Just set up the vendor’s rates and BargeOps will create any midstream-in/out and fleeting charges when you drop a barge at their fleeting facility. BargeOps also helps keep track of services provided by vendor towing companies.
BargeOps Portal Improvements
We continue to expand the features included in the web-based BargeOps Portal which is a secure website where customers, vendors, and employees can view the current status of barges, as well as your barge registry and current boat positions based on permissions you set. With BargeOps 4.1, you now have the ability to filter barges based on their destination facility. This is particularly important to a terminal or a vendor who may want to see what barges are destined for their facility. Click here to read more about the BargeOps Portal.
Shift Planner
This enhancement gives boat dispatchers a powerful tool for scheduling barge movements (pick-ups and drops). Dispatchers use the Shift Planner to create and manage barge pick-up and drop orders for company boats that use BargeOps Onboard.
Shift Rates
Another great new feature is the ability to set up shift rates separately for upstream versus downstream. This would be useful for recouping higher fuel expenses incurred when moving barges upstream. These rates can be set up for both internal use and for vendor towing companies.
Invoice Adjustments
Finally, there are times where a customer situation requires an invoice adjustment that covers more than an individual barge. For example, you may want to settle on disputed Fleeting or Demurrage charges for a large number of barges. We’ve added the ability to create special invoice adjustments using Parts & Service Bills which allows a lump sum credit to be applied rather than assigning adjustments to individual barges
